Graduate Internships

Each intern typically carries an individual caseload as well as assisting in support groups each semester. Interns receive a high level of clinical supervision, including one hour per week of individual supervision and one hour per week of group supervision. 2nd year graduate students are eligible to apply. Eligible interns are required to commit to two consecutive semesters for their clinical field placement.

Working with Clinical Interns

Interns are students who are pursuing master’s level degrees in their field. In Columbus we support those pursuing a Masters in Social Work. Completing an internship is part of their program requirements and we are delighted to give back and support those entering the mental health profession. Our interns are an integral part of our staff at Cornerstone, attending staff trainings, providing feedback in meetings, and most importantly, supporting Client care through individual sessions and facilitators for school and support groups.

We understand that when seeking support and guidance during challenging times, it’s essential to feel confident and comfortable with the clinicians you choose to work with. Here are a few reasons why working with social work interns at Cornerstone of Hope can be a positive and enriching experience:

Smaller Case Loads
Interns have smaller caseloads to balance increasing their clinical skills while navigating their educational requirements outside of their internship. This means they have a more flexible schedule and time to prepare for sessions.

Interns Receive Ongoing Supervision
Our social work interns are closely supervised by experienced and licensed clinicians. This means that while they are gaining practical experience, there is a seasoned expert overseeing their work, ensuring that the quality of care meets our organization’s standards.

Fresh Perspectives and Enthusiasm
As the interns are in school, they are learning the latest techniques and skill sets that are emerging in the mental health field. Interns bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a genuine enthusiasm to their work. This can infuse your sessions with new energy and creative approaches, contributing to a dynamic and evolving therapeutic experience.

Flexibility and Willingness
With this being a learning experience for interns, they are very open to feedback. They want to learn! Interns are open to feedback on improving their skills, which in turn supports a client to move towards their goals.

We appreciate your trust in Cornerstone of Hope and assure you that your well-being is our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns about working with social work interns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
