Grief Workshops

Cornerstone of Hope offers routine grief workshops for anyone who would like to better understand grief and loss. Workshops vary in length and style between one day seminars and topical recurring series offerings.

Support-Group-scaled-1

Grief Matters is a monthly education workshop series designed to provide opportunities to explore and manage grief in new ways. Recognizing that the experience of grief is both unique and universal, Grief Matters offers additional support for those striving to learn, grow, connect, and heal.

Each month, a topic or activity is presented that may help improve wellness and coping through education, self-care, and emotional expression. Participants are encouraged to try new skills and incorporate them into their lives if appropriate for their personal grief journey. Please join us on the last Wednesday of each month for a different topic or activity … because your grief matters!

Supporting Others Through Grief

Wednesday, January 29, 2025

Witnessing another person’s grief can be a challenging experience.  While we know that someone has experienced a significant loss, we may not know or feel confident in how to support them.  What do I say?  Do I say anything at all?  Will my words or actions remind them of their loss?  Will I make things worse?  Please join us for an evening of grief education and reflection to step beyond, “I’m here for you if you need anything.”  Participants will learn practical strategies to support others through grief as well as ways to compassionately care for themselves.

Scondary Losses: Layers of Grief

Wednesday, February 26, 2025

Grief is a natural response to a loss, especially after the death of a loved one. Yet, we may be surprised to realize that our grief often extends well beyond the death itself, and we typically grieve for many layers of loss at the same time. Examples include grieving plans for the future, financial stability, changes to your support system, or how you spent your time. This event will introduce and explore Secondary Losses, these additional life changes that can compound and complicate grief. Education, coping skills, and an opportunity to share experiences will be presented as well.

Picking Up the Pieces: Honoring Grief and Connection through the Art of Kintsugi

Wednesday, March 26, 2025

What do you do with the pieces of a favorite dish or cherished antique when it has broken? Rather than discard an item because it is damaged and seems no longer valuable, the ancient Japanese Art of Kintsugi repairs these broken pieces. Meaning “golden joinery,” Kintsugi encourages us to embrace and honor the damage as a beautiful, valuable part of an item’s history. This is a powerful metaphor for the experience of healing. Please join us for an evening of grief education, support, and therapeutic art. Participants will take home their own Kintsugi piece at the end of the event.

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one and are in need of support, we are here to serve.
