2025 2 GM Secondary Losses

Secondary Losses: Layers of Grief

DATE

February 24, 2025 at 6:00 PM

LOCATION

Columbus Metropolitan Library Whitehall Branch
Meeting Rooms 1 and 2
4445 E. Broad Street
Columbus, Ohio 43213

Grief is a natural response to a loss, especially after the death of a loved one. Yet, we may be surprised to realize that our grief often extends well beyond the death itself, and we typically grieve for many layers of loss at the same time. Examples include grieving plans for the future, financial stability, changes to your support system, or how you spent your time. This event will introduce and explore Secondary Losses, these additional life changes that can compound and complicate grief. Education, coping skills, and an opportunity to share experiences will be presented. Special focus will be given to supporting military families and survivors of traumatic loss as well as collective losses of the Central Ohio community.

This workshop is offered in partnership with the Veterans Administration Central Ohio Healthcare System and the National African American Suicide Prevention Coalition.
